The Duchess Desires . . .

Anastasia Barbieri

Somehow, somewhere along the way, the Duchess took a wrong turn. Of course, of course, couldn't we all look back on our lives and say the same thing? But the Duchess is talking about a serious error, dear readers. But for the Grace of . . . well, her Grace, this very moment (or even earlier) the Duchess would be en route to New York in preparation for that heady festival of sound and vision -- New York Fashion Week.

It's true. A grave mistake. The Duchess heads to New York, bien sur, but of course her travel plans (courtesy of the Empress) completely eclipse Fashion Week by mere minutes. Never mind that the Marchioness is right there, right now, drinking it all in -- sans la Duchesse. No Klonopin can cure this ill. What is a Duchess to do?

Close her eyes and dream of donning the coveted wardrobe of the beyond-words gorgeous Anastasia Barbieri. Ms. Barbieri, fashion editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes, rides shotgun to La Roitfeld in innumerable front row vehicles, all the while looking like some mesmerizing cocktail whipped up out of equal parts Isabella Rosselini, Charlotte Rampling and Brigitte Bardot, yet amazingly far sexier and cooler.

Isn't. She. Divine.

The Duchess naturally completely digs the bombshell/menswear hybrid perfectly encapsulated by Ms. Barbieri. And though vogue.com attempts to democratize her style in one of its most recent "Most Wanted" portfolios, no amount of money can buy what this woman has got.

Confidence. Self-assurance. Savoir faire et joie de vivre. Cool.

Call me, baby.
