The Duchess Recommends . . .

Color Moves:  Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay

This Friday the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum opens its exhibit Color Moves:  Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay.  Though primarily known as an abstract painter and colorist, Delaunay created various textiles, fashion, graphics, interiors, and other visuals.  For too long Delaunay has been overlooked as the "wife of" Robert Delaunay, together with whom she founded the Orphism art movement, a movement based in cubism and known for its utilization of geometric shapes and strong colors.  She was, however, the first living female artist to have a career retrospective at the Louvre, in 1964.  Brava.
